За культурний відпочинок!

Ця фраза колись була політичним гаслом, потім, на початку 1990-х з’являлась у мистецтві. Сьогодні група "Контра банда" пропонує власну версію впровадження культури у життя. Не виставкою чи альбомом, а власним прикладом.
Завантаживши на яхту сотні кілограмів мистецтва ми вирушаємо у довгу подорож Дніпром. Від Черкас ми йдемо до моря. Маршрут обрано не випадково. Колись Дніпро був головним шляхом, об’єднуючим Київську Русь. Всі події – перші переселення народів, подорожі князів, місії проповідників, експедиції купців – починались саме на Дніпрі. Таким чином він був центральною магістраллю не тільки в географічному, а й в історичному, культурному та державо-будівному вимірах. Саме тому в імперські часи течію Дніпра перекривали греблями. Центральною віссю тоді намагались зробити Волго-Дон. Проте Дніпро має відродитись.
Вода в багатьох міфах виконує функції "очищення" та "пам’яті" (чи навпаки "забуття"). Незважаючи на коротку історичну пам’ять сучасників, води Дніпра продовжують виконувати свою сакральну функцію.
Йдучи вздовж їхньої течії із багажем мистецтва, ми поновлюємо історичний зв’язок та пробуджуємо творчі життєдайні сили річки, як центрального символу єдності та буття Землі й Народу.
Подорож відбувається влітку, замість парусу на яхті встановлено живопис. Всім відпочиваючим вздовж берега роздається цей текст, що надруковано накладом 100 тис. примірників.

Пам’ятайте, що води Гангу очищують індусів, а води Дніпра – українців. Нехай вода Дніпра, якою плив Апостол Андрій, Св. Борис, Св. Гліб та багато інших Святих й безліч славних предків наших, сцілить та очистить Ваші тіла та душі.
Не соромте себе перед Дніпром пияцтвом, не кидайте у воду непотріб. Заходьте у воду з вірою та молитвою, споглядаючи мистецтво й відкинувши суєту.

For a cultural rest!

This phrase was once a political motto, later on at the beginning of the 1990s it appeared in the art. Today the “Kontra Banda” Group offers its own version of bringing culture to life. Not by way of an exhibition or an album, but by its own example.
Having loaded the yacht with hundreds of kilos of arts we are setting out for a long trip along the Dnipro. From Cherkasy we are going to the sea. The itinerary has been selected not by chance. Once the Dnipro used to be the main way uniting the Kyiv Rus. All events – first migrations of peoples, princes’ travels, preachers' missions, merchants’ expeditions started exactly on the Dnipro. Thus, it was the central backbone not only in the geographic, as well as historical, cultural and state-building dimensions. It is because of this in the imperial times the Dnipro’s stream was dammed. At that time the attempts were taken to make Volgo-Don the central axis. Despite this the Dnipro has to restore.
In many myths water performs the function of “purification” and “memory” (or vice versa “oblivion”). Despite the short historic memory of contemporaries the Dnipro’s waters continue to perform its sacral function.
Going down-stream with the baggage of art we renovate the historic connection and awaken creative vitalizing powers of the river as the central symbol of unity and existence of the Land and People.
The trip takes place in summer, instead of a sail there is painting aboard the yacht. The text is distributed among holiday-makers along the bank with 100 thousand copies printed.

We wish you a good rest. We demonstrate our art for you to feel the grandeur of the river in the water of which your feet are! Let us be worthy of the Dnipro’s glorious waters! Remember that the Ganges’s waters purify Hindu, and the Dnipro’s waters purify Ukrainians. Let the Dnipro’s water, where the Apostle Andriy, St. Borys, St. Glib and a lot of other Saints and a plenty of glorious ancestors of ours swam, cure and purify your bodies and souls.
Do not be a disgrace to the Dnipro, do not throw rubbish into its waters. Step into the water with faith and a prayer watching art and casting away fuss.
